There is no gainsaying that one of the ways of getting our youths engaged and maximising their potentials is through sports. An idle hand they say, is the devil’s workshop. The youths we see causing unrest would probably have been better if they had something doing.
Amidst the rise in the rate of unemployment in Nigeria, we should begin to look at alternative ways of getting the boys off the streets and engaging them in a more fruitful adventure. If they can not be provided with a job, the opportunity of using their potentials to earn a good life should not evade them.
Having facilitated several empowerment programs for the youths in Ogun state, when Rt. Hon. Abdel-Majid Adesegun Adekoya (Attacker) thought deeply about creating a pathway to success for the youths, he decided to situate a massive stadium in Ago Iwoye, Ijebu North local government area of Ogun state, where youths can easily access facilities to build themselves in their various chosen fields.
Football, boxing, badminton, field hockey, basketball, volleyball, tennis, cricket, table tennis and baseball are areas where we have youths rotting away with their talents. This is what Rt. Hon. Abdel-Majid Adesegun Adekoya (Attacker) aims to address with the Ago Iwoye City Stadium. Rather than roam the streets to perpetrate crimes of various degrees, the youths now have where to visit and improve on themselves.
We must all have been seeing how youths gather in their hundreds at football viewing centres on Saturdays and Sundays just to watch league football matches. This alone shows how much our youths admire sports, particularly football. When completed and put to use, there is no doubt that several stars will be discovered and become national and international glory as scouts will begin to pay visits and hunt for the best. With this, a better future beacons for the youths, courtesy of Rt. Hon. Abdel-Majid Adesegun Adekoya (Attacker).
