OGUN YOUTH HOUSE PRESS RELEASE
Distinguished Youths of Ogun State,
2023 NATIONAL YOUTH DAY: OGUN IS COMMITTED TO BUILDING A YOUTHFUL FUTURE.
Today, November 1, 2023, marks the 3rd commemoration of the National Youth Day event declared in the year 2020 by the Federal Government to draw attention and find solutions to the issues that affect the youth and the youth constituency.
- As you are aware of the Unity Congress held on Saturday October 28, 2023, at the Valley—View Auditorium, Government House, Abeokuta, I alongside seventeen other young Leaders of Ogun State were elected to serve as members of the 10th State Executive Council to steer the affairs of the youth constituency of Ogun State for a term of four years.
- It is therefore a privilege on this day to address the distinguished youths of Ogun State as the 10th State Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, and to congratulate you all on the occasion of this day.
- Being my first public address following our swearing—in to office, may I seize this opportunity to express the heartfelt appreciation of my entire team — THE YOUTH COUNCIL PROGRESSIVES — for the overwhelming supports we received during our electioneering campaign and the positive vibes and solidarity that we still enjoy till this moment.
- Let me reiterate the assurance of this 10th State Executives of the Youth Council to employ all progressive channels to ensure we deliver on our promises. The encomiums we’ve received on this electoral victory are enough reasons to why we must not disappoint our millions of Youths; we cannot afford to let you down, especially those who put their integrity on the line for our victory.
- In line with the agenda of this youthful day; to draw attention and find solutions to issues affecting our young people, you may be aware of our service delivery contract with the youths of Ogun State. Our Campaign Document tagged “THE YOUTH COUNCIL OF OUR DREAMS”, which serves as our working document encapsulates our goals towards improving the narratives and deliverables for the youth constituency of Ogun State.
- My leadership firmly believes in the ideals of our 5—edged agenda — THE PROGRESSIVE PENTAGON — as captured in our campaign document: Employment and Job Creation, Youth Empowerment, Education and Training, Sports and Social Welfare, and Agricultural Development are our focal areas in line with the ISEYA agenda of His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun CON, our beloved Governor and Grand Patron of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Ogun State Chapter.
- I have the directive of my fellow team members to express our confidence in the mantra of building our future together. With your support and that of well—meaning Stakeholders, we must create safer spaces for the dreams of the young people of Ogun State to continue thrive beyond expectations.
- Contrary to what was obtainable elsewhere, the legacy of appointing a large number of young people into positions of authority is what our Governor has laid during his first administration. It is another reason why Ogun is unarguably a State of many firsts, and it is therefore our hope and best wishes that more appointments shall be ceded to the youth constituency during this second tenure.
- Conclusively, the youth leadership appeal to His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun CON to accelerate the establishment of the Ministry of Youth Development to begin give deserving attention to youth development and capacity—building programmes in Ogun State.
- Today, it is instructional that we celebrate and take pride in who we are; our youthful exuberance and our dreams for a brighter future.
- Cheers to a heartwarming National Youth Day!
Olóyè Akolawole Shoremi
State Chairman, NYCN.
