
Nigeria forward Umar Sadiq has been ruled out of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations due to injury.
He sustained a knee injury in the Super Eagles friendly against Syli Stars of Guinea on Monday.
The 26-year-old, who is now expected to return to his Spanish club, Real Sociedad for treatment will be sidelined for around three weeks.
The forward missed the team’s last two training sessions due to the setback.
The former Almeria star is now the third Super Eagles player to be ruled out of the competition.
Wilfred Ndidi and Victor Boniface have been replaced with Alhassan Yusuf and Terem Moffi.
Napoli hitman Victor Osimhen is now the only fit striker available for Nigeria’s opening game Equatorial Guinea on Sunday.
Kelechi Iheanacho and Terem Moffi the other strikers in the team will only join the rest of the squad this weekend.
