Ogun Assembly Clarifies: No Fraud Al

The Ogun State House of Assembly Committee on Public Accounts and Anti-Corruption, led by Hon. Damilare Bello, continued its sittings today with a clarification regarding the invitation extended to former Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Abdul-Waheed Odusile, and the SSA to the Governor on Media, Emmanuel Ojo. Hon. Bello emphasized that the invitation was not an indictment but rather an opportunity to seek clarifications on the audit report of the Ministry.

This clarification was made during the Committee’s meeting with officials of the State Hospitals Management Board at the Assembly Complex in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Chairman of the Committee, accompanied by other members including Honourables Musefiu Lamidi, Dickson Awolaja, Wahab Haruna, Yusuf Amosun, Folawewo Salami, Lawal Samsideen, and Waliu Owode, reiterated that the purpose of the sittings was not to witch-hunt but to ensure the prudent management of government resources across various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.

He clarified, “At our last sitting on Monday, there was misinformation suggesting that this Honourable House had indicted the ex-Commissioner and the SSA (Media). We have not indicted anyone. We have simply invited them to provide clarification on the Auditor General reports, aligning with our constitutional responsibilities.”

Emphasizing the Assembly’s commitment to transparency and accountability, he urged the public to disregard scandalous rumors, noting that not everything in the media accurately reflects proceedings within the Assembly.

Furthermore, he urged Heads of MDAs to collaborate with the Assembly to identify and rectify any financial leakages, thereby promoting accountability and transparency in government operations within the State.
