Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, actively participated in a peaceful protest organized by the state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) on Tuesday.
The protest, which commenced from the NLC state secretariat in Agodi, Ibadan, culminated at Gate – NTA – Yemetu roundabout, where Governor Makinde joined the demonstrators.
Addressing the protesters, Governor Makinde empathized with the hardships faced by the populace and expressed confidence that solutions would be found soon.
“I am aware of the hardship in town and the difficulty the people are going through, but I am committed to being part of the solution,” he affirmed.
Assuring the workers that their grievances would be conveyed, Governor Makinde pledged to deliver their letters of protest and complaints to President Bola Tinubu.
Earlier, Kayode Martins, the state NLC Chairman, highlighted the unbearable cost of living, particularly for the common man, as the driving force behind the protest.
“The cost of living in Nigeria today is unsustainable, and the people are weary. That’s why we have taken to the streets,” Martins stated.
