The Ogun State Police Command announced on Wednesday the arrest of 29-year-old Jamiu Salihu in connection to the tragic murder of his 20-year-old girlfriend, Temitope Elemide.

Elemide was reportedly raped and fatally stabbed on Sunday at her family’s residence in Bosero community, Olodo, Odeda Local Government Area.

According to a confidential source, assailants invaded Elemide’s home while she was alone, subjecting her to sexual assault and fatally injuring her.

Elemide, who was preparing for the upcoming Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, fell victim to this senseless violence.

SP Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the state police command, confirmed the incident, labeling it a murder case reported on Sunday.

Salihu, identified as the boyfriend of the deceased, was apprehended as a suspect in the gruesome crime after being observed leaving the scene on the day of the incident.

During the investigation, authorities recovered incriminating evidence, including a knife, two iron rods, and an Android phone.

The deceased’s body has been transferred to the morgue as the investigation continues.
