The Senate has suspended Senator Abdul Ningi (Bauchi Central) for three months following allegations of N3 trillion budget padding in the 2024 budget. Several senators supported the call for Ningi’s suspension over the accusation.
Former Kaduna senator, Shehu Sani, highlighted the repercussions of Ningi’s suspension in a tweet, emphasizing the loss of privileges and entitlements during the period.
Sani pointed out that Ningi will no longer have access to his office and will not receive any remuneration until the suspension is lifted.
Here’s a breakdown of what Senator Ningi will lose during his three-month suspension:
- Plenary Attendance: Ningi will not be allowed to participate in Senate plenary sessions.
- Committee Participation: He will be barred from attending committee meetings and engaging in oversight functions.
- Financial Entitlements: His salary, allowances, and all entitlements will be suspended.
- Office Access: Ningi will not have access to his office within the National Assembly premises.
- Restricted Presence: He is expected to refrain from being present within the National Assembly premises for the duration of his suspension.
