Tragedy unfolded in the Gbagada area of Lagos as an unnamed woman was fatally stabbed by her house helper at her residence on 29 Kiniun-Ifa Street, Sawmill. The incident occurred under mysterious circumstances, with the perpetrator, identified only as Peter, fleeing the scene, leaving behind a harrowing scene of violence.
The victim’s lifeless body was discovered on March 9, 2024, by her son who visited the apartment. Upon entering, he found his mother’s body on the staircase, surrounded by blood, indicating a brutal attack. A piece of wood, believed to be the murder weapon, was also found nearby. It was evident that the crime had occurred days prior, as the body showed signs of decomposition.
The house help had resumed work just a week before the tragic event, adding a chilling layer of proximity to the crime. Authorities launched a manhunt for the fleeing perpetrator, and investigations led to the arrest of a relative of the agent who had facilitated the employment of the house help, as the main agent remained elusive.
The grief-stricken son of the victim was unable to provide further details, overwhelmed by the shock and loss. Law enforcement officers from the Ifako Police division responded to the scene, retrieving the victim’s body for further examination.
Upon inquiry, the Divisional Police Officer directed inquiries to the Lagos State Police Command’s spokesperson. Subsequently, the arrested house help was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department at Panti for further interrogation and legal proceedings.
