The late Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, will be laid to rest today, Friday, March 15, 2024, at his ancestral home in Aliiwo, Ibadan, in accordance with Islamic customs.

Oba Balogun, who passed away at the age of 81 on Thursday evening at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, after a brief illness, will be interred by 4 pm.

The burial arrangements were confirmed by Baba-Kekere Olubadan and his younger brother, Kola Balogun, in a statement released in Ibadan. They mentioned that the State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has been verbally informed and will be formally notified early today.

Just days before his passing, the monarch celebrated his second anniversary. He was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday morning due to a slight malaria fever, despite being in good health the previous Monday when he received well-wishers for his anniversary.

The late Olubadan, an 81-year-old British-trained PhD holder, former university lecturer, former Shell British Petroleum management staff member, former Nigeria Peopleโ€™s Party governorship candidate, former Senator, and successful businessman, leaves behind a legacy of accomplishment and service to his community.
