In the aftermath of a tragic incident in Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State, where troops of the Nigerian Army, including a commanding officer, two majors, one captain, and 12 soldiers, were killed during a peacekeeping mission to resolve a conflict between two communities, General CG Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff, has issued a directive for the immediate arrest and thorough investigation of all perpetrators involved.

Confirming the unfortunate event, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, the Director of Defence Information, stated that the troops of 181 Amphibious Battalion were attacked by youths from Okuoma community while responding to a distress call related to the communal crisis between Okuoma and Okoloba communities.

General Gusau further elaborated that the reinforcement team led by the commanding officer also came under attack, resulting in the fatalities mentioned above.

Expressing grave concern, General Musa emphasized the urgency of bringing those responsible to justice and ensuring a comprehensive investigation into the incident. He also noted that the Delta State Government has been duly informed of the situation.

Despite this setback, the military remains resolute in its commitment to upholding peace and security across the nation. While some arrests have been made, efforts are underway to ascertain the motives behind the attack.

Further updates on the matter will be provided as the investigation progresses.
