Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has taken proactive measures to ease the burden of economic hardship on Lagos residents by announcing the commencement of discounted sales at ‘Ounje Eko’ food markets across the city’s five divisions, starting Sunday, March 17, 2024.

The directive, conveyed through an official statement from the Lagos State government’s communication channel, aims to provide much-needed relief to citizens grappling with the economic challenges plaguing the nation.

As part of this initiative, staple food items such as rice, beans, gari, bread, eggs, tomatoes, and pepper will be offered at a 25% discount at the ‘Ounje Eko’ Food Markets. These markets will operate from 11 am to 4 pm in all local government areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) within the State.

To ensure fairness and prevent any form of exploitation, a voucher system will be implemented during the pilot phase of the program. This measure seeks to promote equitable access to discounted food items for all residents in need.
