Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State has kickstarted the establishment of new eye and dental hospitals in Biu, the administrative hub of Biu local government council.

The eye hospital blueprint includes provisions for two operation theatres, consulting rooms, administrative facilities, and segregated male and female wards boasting a combined capacity of 56 beds. Similarly, the dental hospital will be fully equipped to cater to the dental health needs of the populace.

Governor Zulum has set a strict deadline of six months for the completion of the project, urging contractors to adhere meticulously to specified standards.

Highlighting his administration’s commitment to accessible healthcare, Governor Zulum disclosed plans for additional eye and dental hospitals in both southern and northern Borno, augmenting the existing infrastructure in Maiduguri.

“In keeping with our electoral promises to establish eye and dental facilities in southern and northern Borno, alongside the existing central hospital in Maiduguri, we are commencing the construction of a new dental and eye hospital in Biu,” Governor Zulum affirmed.

He further instructed contractors to expedite the project while ensuring compliance with all stipulated requirements, emphasizing the government’s dedication to affordable healthcare provision for the state’s residents.

In another development, Governor Zulum announced the allocation of funds for the elevation of Biu General Hospital to a specialist institution, underscoring his administration’s commitment to enhancing healthcare services across the region.
