The House of Representatives has approved a bill for an Act aimed at increasing the salaries, allowances, and fringe benefits of judicial officers. According to the bill, the Chief Justice of Nigeria is slated to receive a monthly salary of N5.39 million.
Presented to the Green Chamber by President Bola Tinubu, the bill outlines a breakdown of earnings for various judicial positions. Justices of the Supreme Court are set to earn a total package of N4.21 million monthly, while the President of the Court of Appeal is to receive N4.48 million.
The bill also details the earnings for justices of the Court of Appeal, Chief Judges of various courts, and other judicial officers. Their monthly packages include basic salaries and a range of regular allowances covering expenses such as fuel, maintenance, personal assistance, and medicals.
Additionally, the House has approved other allowances such as leave allowances, estacode, duty tour allowances, and severance gratuity, with a provision for motor vehicle loans.
