Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State refutes allegations by the All Progressives Congress (APC) that his administration spent N18 billion on Government House renovations, labeling it as fake news.

According to Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the APC’s claims are baseless and reflect their struggle to accept their failures in governance.

Adeleke emphasizes that his administration has not borrowed any funds for infrastructure projects, contrary to APC’s assertions.

He clarifies that the government’s approach focuses on blocking financial leakages, increasing revenue, and utilizing savings for projects, rather than relying on loans.

The renovation project cited is part of a long-term strategy to address the state’s infrastructure deficit inherited from the previous administration.

Adeleke assures that no loans are planned, as the government has a sustainable financial plan within available resources.

In response, the APC urges anti-corruption agencies like the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Offences Commission (ICPC) to investigate the state’s finances, citing alleged mismanagement under Adeleke’s government.

However, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman in the state, Sunday Bisi, expresses willingness to cooperate with the anti-graft agencies if approached properly, contrasting the transparency of their administration with the alleged corruption of the previous government.
