Wasiu Ayinde, renowned Yoruba Fuji maestro, commonly known as KWAM or K1 De Ultimate, has responded to allegations from some of his band members, including Ayankunle Ayanlowo, who accused him of mistreatment and likened their relationship to that of a master and a slave.

In an interview with GoldMyne TV, KWAM1 refuted the claims, labeling them as mischievous attempts to tarnish his reputation. He clarified that Ayankunle and two others had absconded during a tour in England, leading to the confiscation of their passports by British authorities due to overstaying their visas.

Addressing Ayankunle’s specific allegation of passport confiscation, KWAM1 explained, “Ayankunle and two others ran away from the band in England with their passports. And we returned to Nigeria. After he ran away, information reaching us indicated that in the course of him overstaying, he gave his passport to someone to come and present it at the British embassy… The person successfully had his details changed… On scrutiny, the embassy detected and withheld the passport. Ayankunle’s passport is at the British High Commission.”

KWAM1 emphasized that he never withheld passports, citing an instance where band members accused him of leaving them stranded in America while he visited his ex-wife in London. He countered this claim, stating that they all had their passports and returned to Nigeria with tickets provided by another member.

Regarding accusations of staff mistreatment, KWAM1 asserted that he has always addressed their concerns and provided support. He cited an example of assisting a band member facing eviction from his house in Oyo State, emphasizing his commitment to helping his team members in times of need.

KWAM1 concluded by stating that band members frequently abscond, leading to the disbandment and regrouping with new members, and reiterated his dedication to treating his team members fairly and supporting them when needed.
