In a solemn ceremony at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja, President Bola Tinubu paid tribute to the 17 fallen heroes of the Nigerian Army, who lost their lives in Delta State on March 14, 2024. Honoring their sacrifice, Tinubu posthumously awarded national honors to the brave servicemen and directed comprehensive support for their bereaved families.

During the burial ceremony, Tinubu announced the provision of housing for the surviving family members and pledged scholarships for all the children of the fallen soldiers, ensuring their education up to university level. Additionally, he instructed the prompt disbursement of death benefits to the families within 90 days.

Among those honored, Lt. Col. A.H Ali and three others were awarded the prestigious Member of the Order of the Niger, while the remaining 13 soldiers received the Officer of the Federal Republic Medal. Tinubu emphasized that these soldiers would forever be remembered for their unwavering commitment to duty and their ultimate sacrifice for the nation.

Reflecting on their mission as peacekeepers, Tinubu underscored the soldiers’ dedication to restoring harmony between communities, highlighting Lt. Col. Ali’s steadfastness in his military duty until the end.

Expressing gratitude on behalf of the nation, Tinubu assured continued support to the families of the fallen heroes, announcing government plans to provide housing and scholarships, alongside the timely disbursement of all entitled benefits within the specified period.
