Once again, Nigeria grapples with a national grid collapse, leaving the country in darkness. The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company confirmed the outage, citing a system failure at 4:28 pm.

In a statement to its customers via social media, the AEDC explained the situation and assured stakeholders are working tirelessly to restore power supply. Similarly, the Eko Electricity Distribution Company echoed the disruption and pledged to keep customers updated on the restoration progress.

This incident echoes a previous collapse on December 12, 2023, where power generation plummeted from 4,032.8MW to a mere 43.5MW. The recurring grid collapses have been a persistent challenge, with Nigeria experiencing 46 collapses from 2017 to 2023, according to the International Energy Agency.
