The Ogun State Police Command announced on Friday the successful rescue of Oladapo Seyifunmi, one of the worshippers abducted from the Celestial Church of Christ, Oriyarin Parish, located in Mowe, Obafemi/Owode Local Government Area of the state.
According to SP Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the state police command, Oladapo Seyifunmi, also known as the Shepherd of the Celestial Church, was freed through a joint effort involving police officers, hunters, members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), and operatives of the Amotekun security outfit. He has since been reunited with his family.
The abduction occurred when armed individuals stormed the church premises on Thursday, seizing Seyifunmi and another worshipper, Oluboboye Abiola.
Confirming the incident, Odutola stated, “On 28/3/2024, unidentified gunmen invaded a Celestial Church around Oriyarin village, Mowe, and abducted one Oladapo Seyifunmi, Oluboboye Abiola, and escaped through the thick forest behind the church.”
