The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has outlined a weather forecast spanning Monday through Wednesday, predicting a mix of sunshine and thunderstorms across various regions.
Starting with Monday, NiMet’s weather outlook, released on Sunday in Abuja, suggests a sunny and hazy atmosphere over parts of Yobe and Borno states, accompanied by chances of thunderstorms in Kebbi.
For the rest of the North, predominantly sunny conditions are anticipated with patches of cloud during the morning hours. However, isolated thunderstorms are expected later in the day over areas such as Bauchi, Taraba, and Kaduna States.
Moving to the North Central region, sunny skies with a few cloud patches are expected initially, with isolated thunderstorms predicted over parts of Niger, Kwara, and Benue during the morning period. Later in the day, similar conditions are expected over Plateau, the Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa, and Kogi states.
In the Southern region, a mix of clouds and sunshine is forecasted, with isolated thunderstorms anticipated over various states, including Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Delta, Edo, Lagos, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River during the morning hours. Similar weather patterns are expected over other states in the region throughout the day.
Moving on to Tuesday, NiMet forecasts sunny skies with some cloud patches over the North, with morning thunderstorms expected in parts of Taraba and Adamawa states. Later in the day, isolated thunderstorms are predicted over Taraba, Zamfara, Katsina, Kaduna, and Bauchi states.
The North Central region should expect a sunny start with cloud patches in the morning, followed by isolated thunderstorms over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa, Kogi, Plateau, and Benue states as the day progresses.
In the Southern region, a similar pattern of cloudy skies with spells of sunshine is expected, along with isolated thunderstorms over several states.
Finally, for Wednesday, a predominantly sunny atmosphere is anticipated over the North, with isolated thunderstorms likely in parts of Zamfara, Kebbi, Taraba, Kaduna, Adamawa, and Bauchi states later in the day. The North Central region should expect similar weather patterns, with isolated thunderstorms forecasted over parts of Niger, Kwara, Plateau, Nasarawa, Kogi, the Federal Capital Territory, and Benue states.
In the Southern region, cloudy conditions with spells of sunshine are expected, along with prospects of thunderstorms over specific areas during the afternoon or evening hours.
NiMet advises the public to take adequate precautions, especially in areas where thunderstorms are likely to occur, and recommends that airline operators stay updated on weather reports and forecasts for effective operational planning.
