Dangote Petroleum Refinery has made a significant announcement, reducing the price of Automotive Gas Oil, commonly known as diesel, from N1,200/litre to N1,000/litre.

According to Tony Chiejina, the spokesperson for the refinery, this move is unprecedented and aims to positively impact the economy by alleviating the burden of high fuel costs.

The refinery had previously introduced the product at N1,200/litre, marking a notable 30% reduction from the market price of around N1,600/litre.

The decision to further decrease the price comes after calls from oil marketers to make diesel more affordable, with some urging for a price as low as N850/litre.

This move by Dangote Petroleum Refinery is anticipated to have far-reaching effects on inflation rates and various sectors of the economy.
