Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has denounced a flyer falsely attributed to his wife, Mrs. Ngozi Adeleke, supposedly welcoming Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to the state.
Adeleke clarified that the flyer purportedly from Ngozi was fabricated and, in fact, fake.
He also affirmed that there’s no contention over which of his two wives would host the First Lady during her visit to Osun, where she’s scheduled to inaugurate the Alternative High School For Girls at Oke D.O, Ilesha Road, Osogbo.
Following the release of a press statement by the Osun State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. Kolapo Alimi, announcing Tinubu’s forthcoming visit, two different flyers from Mr. Titilola and Ngozi Adeleke, both wives of the governor, surfaced online, each welcoming the wife of the president to the state and dubbing themselves as the First Lady of Osun State. This raised concerns regarding who would officially receive Tinubu.
However, providing clarity on the matter, the spokesperson for the state governor, Olawale Rasheed, stated in Osogbo on Monday that Titilola Adeleke is indeed the First Lady and will be hosting Tinubu during the visit.
Rasheed further clarified that the flyer purportedly from Ngozi Adeleke’s office was counterfeit and the individual responsible for it has been apprehended.
He emphasized that Ngozi did not authorize the flyer, and it was disseminated by individuals aiming to cause discord and confusion.
In the statement, Rasheed affirmed, “The attention of Mr. Governor has been drawn to fake news circulating about conflict over who among the Governor’s two wives is to host the First Lady of Nigeria, Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on her official visit to the State tomorrow.
“For clarification, Chief (Mrs.) Titilola Adeleke, the First Lady of Osun State, is officially hosting the First Lady of the Republic tomorrow in line with the directive of Mr. Governor. There is no confusion on this official position.
“The state government under Governor Ademola Adeleke is set to receive the First Lady and her team in Osun State.”
