Six senior officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) are currently undergoing interrogation at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) headquarters in Jabi, Abuja, following their arrest over an alleged N6 billion fraud.
The officers were handed over to the EFCC by the NSCDC Commandant General, Ahmed Audi, on Monday. While specific details of the investigation remain limited, reliable sources indicate that the EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, previously requested their release for questioning in a letter to the NSCDC CG.
An anonymous source within the EFCC disclosed, “Six senior NSCDC officers are presently in our custody, facing questioning regarding suspected fraudulent activities amounting to over N6 billion.”
Another source clarified, “The EFCC has not detained the NSCDC CG, nor is he under investigation. We are solely focused on the six senior NSCDC officers, who are being probed for their alleged involvement in the N6 billion fraud.”
Despite attempts to reach the EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, for comment, there has been no response to calls or messages.
When approached for a statement, NSCDC spokesperson Babawale Afolabi responded, “I’m not aware of this,” via WhatsApp.
