The Federal Government has announced that Wednesday, June 12, will be a public holiday to commemorate this year’s Democracy Day celebration.
Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, made the declaration on behalf of the government. He congratulated Nigerians on the occasion and emphasized the significance of the day in the country’s history.
In a statement released on Tuesday by Dr. Aishetu Gogo Ndayako, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, the Minister highlighted the importance of reflecting on the efforts of Nigeria’s founding fathers. He urged citizens to work towards maintaining a united, secure, peaceful, and indivisible nation.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo also reiterated President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to implementing reforms aimed at reviving the nation’s economy and enhancing security. He called on Nigerians and friends of Nigeria to recognize the progress made so far and to remain hopeful for a better future for the country’s democracy.
