The highly anticipated final match of the Orimolusi Football Scouting Competition is set to take place at Shamusudeen Grammar School in Oke Agbo, Ijebu Igbo. The epic tie, scheduled for today, 4th of August, 2024, will see Oke Agbo FC face off against Ojowo FC in a thrilling contest to determine the competition’s champions.
The Competition, powered by Otunba Toyin Odueyungbo (Bobaselu of Ijebu Igbo Kingdom), aims to unearth and nurture football talents within Ijebu Igbo. This initiative, according to the sponsor, is a pivotal step in forming the Orimolusi football team, which is envisioned to elevate the town’s presence in the state, national and international football scenes.
Otunba Toyin Odueyungbo, whose passion for sports and youth development drives this project, expressed his excitement about the upcoming final. According to him, “This competition is not just about winning; it’s about identifying and nurturing the immense football talents in our community. We aim to provide a platform for these young athletes to showcase their skills and potentially launch professional careers,” he stated.
The competition has garnered significant attention and support, particularly from Ijebu Igbo youths and football enthusiasts, creating an enthusiastic atmosphere throughout the previous stages of the competition. Both finalists, who are set to lock horns later today, booked their places with hard-fought victories over their opponents, with the final encounter promising to be a spectacular and competitive match.
However, regardless of the outcome, the Competition is deemed to have already achieved its goal of spotlighting local talent and setting the stage for the future football stars of Ijebu Igbo.
