Following their emergence as ward executives of the party at the ward congress held in August, the major opposition party – PDP has formally inaugurated its new ward executives across the eleven wards on October 25, 2024, at the Omo Ilu Foundation Hall in Ijebu Igbo.

The event saw the gathering of key party leaders and members who emphasized the importance of unity and dedication to ensure the party’s success in future elections.

In his address, the local government chairman of the Party; Hon. Sunday Sobowale, highlighted the significance of grassroots leadership in building a strong and cohesive party structure. He urged the new executives to remain committed to their roles and work diligently to strengthen the party’s presence at the ward level.

In the same vein, a respected leader and former governorship aspirant of the party, Prince Adeleke Shittu shared insights from his experience in leadership and called on the new executives stay aligned with the core values of the party.

Representing the State Chairman, Hon. Sikirullahi Ogundele, the State Publicity Secretary, Mr. Austin Oniyokor, conveyed the chairman’s message of encouragement to the ward executives. He emphasized the importance of their role in positioning the party for victory, urging them to exceed expectations in their duties.

The swearing-in ceremony concluded with a strong call to action from party leaders, rallying the new ward executives to strengthen the party’s foundations across in their various wards. BEING THE TEXT OF ADDRESS DELIVERED BY THE IJEBU NORTH LOCAL GOVERNMENT PDP CHAIRMAN – HON. SUNDAY ONABANJO SOBOWALE AT THE INAUGURATION OF THE PDP WARDS’ EXECUTIVES IN IJEBU NORTH LOCAL GOVERNMENT ON THURSDAY, 24TH OF OCTOBER, 2024.

Distinguished party leaders, esteemed ward executives, members of the People’s Democratic Party, ladies and gentlemen,

It is with great pleasure and honor that I stand before you today to inaugurate the newly elected executives of our great party in the eleven wards of Ijebu North Local Government. Today marks a significant step forward for the People’s Democratic Party, as we continue our journey to serve the good people of Ijebu North and lead them toward a future of prosperity and development.

The role of our ward executives is crucial to the success of our party. At the grassroots, you are the heartbeat of the party. It is through your efforts, your dedication and your unwavering commitment to the values of democracy and good governance that we will continue to grow stronger and expand our reach across all communities in our dear local government.

As ward executives, you are not only leaders; you are the bridge between the people and the party. It is your duty to ensure that the voices of the people are heard, that their needs are met, and that we, as a political party, continue to respond to the challenges they face daily. Our strength lies in the unity of purpose and it is your responsibility to enhance unity by working closely with the people, listening to their concerns and advocating for solutions.

The future of our local government depends on our collective efforts. As an opposition party, we have a rich history of delivering progress and change, hence, we must continue to build on that foundation. The challenges we face today – whether in terms of development, security, or economic growth, require all hands to be on deck. This is why I urge you, our newly inaugurated executives, to carry out your responsibilities with diligence, integrity and accountability. Let your leadership be a shining example for others to follow.

As you embark on this new journey, remember that you are not alone. You have the full support of the party, from the local government level to the state and national leadership. We are one family, united by the common goal of building a better Ijebu North, a better Ogun State and a better Nigeria. I encourage you to work together, embrace collaboration and always prioritize the interests of the people.

In conclusion, I congratulate each and every one of you on your inauguration. I have no doubt that with your leadership, we will achieve greater heights and move closer to our vision of a prosperous and democratic Ijebu North. Let us march forward with renewed energy and commitment, knowing that together, we will succeed.
