The Ogun Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, says that it generated N1.5 billion between January and October in the state.

Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, the Commissioner, disclosed this on Wednesday in Abeokuta while defending the ministry’s 2025 budget proposal before the Ogun Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation.

The committee is headed by Mr Musefiu Lamidi (APC-Ado Odo Ota 11)

The commissioner stated that the ministry had earmarked N24.7 billion as recurrent expenditure while N34.7 billion as capital with a total budget proposal of N59.4 billion.

He explained that the ministry proposed to rake in N2.5 billion as revenue in 2025, adding that the revenue was to be generated from private school licenses, inspection fees, school/tuition/examination fees and renewal fees.

“Others are sales of bills of entries, application forms, and earnings from the use of government halls, among others,” he said.

Arigbabu pointed out that the state government would purchase educational and vocational equipment.

He added that more construction would be done in schools, saying that there was need to intervene in the number of schools in the state.

Ogun State Ministry of Science and Technology is still owing some interns. The September stipend of newly permanent teachers hasn’t been paid till now despite lodging complaint with statement of accounts. Their officers promised it will take two weeks;till now nothing positive from them. These same teachers are yet to be called for capturing and Christmas is in a week time. This is wickedness. If you can’t call for capturing, pay what you owe them.

Their officers are sitting on the money.
