The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ijebu North Local branch, has commended Mr. Kayode Adewale, an award-winning mathematics teacher, for his remarkable achievement of being shortlisted for the $1 million Global Teacher Prize.

In a statement released by the NYCN Coordinator, Ogbeni Abolaji Adeniyi Sobowale, the council lauded Mr. Adewale’s dedication and innovation in the field of education, describing his global recognition as a source of pride for Ijebu North, Ogun State, and Nigeria as a whole.

The NYCN also expressed appreciation to the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun CON, for celebrating Mr. Adewale’s achievement with a N5 million cash prize, a bungalow in any location of his choice within the state, and appointing him as Ogun State Education Ambassador. The council highlighted the governor’s gesture as a reflection of his administration’s commitment to promoting excellence in education and acknowledging outstanding individuals in the teaching profession.

“We thank Governor Dapo Abiodun for his support and for creating an enabling environment where excellence in education is rewarded and celebrated. This recognition will undoubtedly encourage other teachers to aspire to similar greatness,” Sobowale added.
