Reaffirming his unwavering commitment to community development and security, the Sopen Lukale of Oke Sopen, Ijebu Igbo, Oba Dr. Mufutau Adesesan Yusuf, FAAC, FMN, has commissioned an ultra-modern office building for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ijebu North Division.
The commissioning ceremony, which held on Wednesday, 5th of February, 2025, was well attended by top dignitaries, including the Ogun State Commandant of the NSCDC, Mrs. Remilekun Ekundayo, the Executive Chairman of Ijebu North Local Government, Mr. ‘Bolaji Odusanya, traditional rulers, security operatives and community leaders.
In his address, Oba Dr. Yusuf revealed that the new NSCDC headquarters was personally funded by him, without external financial support. He explained that the project was conceived during the planning of his 20th Coronation Anniversary, celebrated on October 28, 2023, when the then Divisional Officer of the NSCDC, Mr. Ibrahim, sought his assistance in securing a befitting office for the corps.
“As I reflected on how to give back to the community, I was approached by the immediate past D.O. of NSCDC Ijebu North, Mr. Ibrahim, who requested a new office building. I promised to provide one, and today, I thank God for enabling me to fulfill that promise in commemoration of my 21st Coronation Anniversary,” he stated.
The newly commissioned building, located behind the Fire Service station is expected to enhance the operational efficiency of the NSCDC in Oke Sopen and Ijebu Igbo as a whole.
Beyond infrastructure, the monarch also announced a scholarship program for 30 indigent students—20 secondary school students and 10 higher institution students – which cuts across various universities nationwide. This initiative, he emphasized, aligns with his vision of supporting education and youth empowerment within his kingdom.
The Executive Chairman of Ijebu North Local Government, Mr. ‘Bolaji Odusanya, praised the Sopen Lukale for his unwavering dedication to community progress, describing him as a monarch whose reign has been marked by meaningful developmental projects that benefit not just Oke Sopen but Ijebu Igbo as a whole.
Similarly, the NSCDC State Commandant, Mrs. Remilekun Ekundayo, lauded Oba Dr. Yusuf for his generous contribution to the security sector and assured that the NSCDC would utilize the facility effectively in carrying out its mandate.
