Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has publicly criticized the Osun State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Abba, over the escalating political crisis in the state.
Osun, governed by Davido’s uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, has been embroiled in tensions between the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC). The crisis stems from attempts by sacked local government chairmen—elected under the APC—to reclaim their positions despite court rulings removing them from office.
Over the weekend, Governor Adeleke called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene, accusing the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, of allegedly using security forces to facilitate the reinstatement of the dismissed chairmen. He stressed that any grievances should be pursued legally rather than through forceful takeovers.
Tensions boiled over on Monday, February 17, 2025, when violence erupted at several local government secretariats. Gunfire was reported as the sacked chairmen and their supporters attempted to retake their offices, clashing with PDP loyalists.
In response, Davido took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to call out the Osun State police chief, accusing him of bias and failure to uphold the rule of law.
In a series of strongly worded posts, Davido warned CP Abba against alleged partiality, stating:
“Mr. Commissioner, respect the rule of law!!! You are not madder or crazier than us!! Make we all kuru mad!! MEN MOUNT WALAI TO KRF!!! I will post you every day everywhere, Mr. Man!!! Try me, fucker.”
In another post, he added:
“Mr. Umar Abba, Osun State Commissioner, you are a disgrace to your children!!! Game on, FUCKER!!!! All of us go mad together!! Werey!!! Mr. Commissioner, we die here.”
Davido’s outburst has since sparked widespread reactions, with many weighing in on the ongoing political crisis and the role of security agencies in the state’s affairs.
As tensions persist, stakeholders continue to call for peaceful resolutions through legal channels to prevent further violence.
