Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, have booked their place in the final of the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket following a hard-fought 75–68 victory over Senegal on Saturday.

The thrilling semifinal clash took place at the Palais des Sports de Treichville in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, where D’Tigress held their nerve to overcome a resilient Senegalese side and continue their dominant run in the tournament.

Earlier on Thursday, the Nigerian side cruised past Cameroon with a commanding 83–47 win in the quarter-finals to set up the semi-final showdown.

By reaching the last four, Nigeria and the other semi-finalists; Mali, Senegal and South Sudan, have secured qualification spots for the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup Qualifying Tournaments, scheduled for March next year.

The four African teams will join 20 other national sides from across the globe, including Brazil, Argentina, the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and Colombia, in the quest to secure a place at the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup.
