The Olubadan-In-Council has formally endorsed the Otun Olubadan, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

The endorsement, which took place on Monday, follows the passing of the 43rd Olubadan, Oba Lekan Balogun, on July 7, 2025.

Announcing the council’s decision, the Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, said Ladoja’s name would be officially forwarded to Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, for formal approval and ratification.

“The council is confident that Senator Ladoja will bring a wealth of experience and wisdom to the throne. His track record as a former governor and his deep-rooted connection to the people of Ibadan make him an ideal candidate to lead Ibadanland into a new era,” Oba Ajibola stated.

He further emphasized the importance of unity and progress under the incoming monarch.

“We anticipate a reign of reconciliation and development. Senator Ladoja is expected to uphold our cherished traditions while embracing modern governance values,” he added.

The endorsement has been met with widespread approval across Ibadan, with many residents expressing optimism about a new chapter of growth, peace, and cultural preservation.

A formal public presentation ceremony is expected in the coming weeks, pending the governor’s official confirmation of the council’s nomination.
