The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has launched an investigation into an incident involving renowned Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, over an alleged violation of airport security protocols at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, FAAN confirmed that the incident occurred on Monday, August 5, 2025, during the boarding process for ValueJet Airlines Flight VK 201 bound for Lagos.

According to the release signed by the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Obiageli Orah, the musician attempted to carry an unidentified liquid substance on board the flight, contrary to established aviation security regulations.

“Preliminary investigations confirmed that the passenger was scheduled to board the morning flight to Lagos operated by ValueJet Airlines (Flight VK 201). During boarding, he attempted to carry a flask containing liquid despite repeated warnings from Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel and the Flight Captain,” the statement read.

FAAN clarified that the item in question—a flask containing alcohol—violated international aviation safety regulations that prohibit carrying liquids exceeding 100ml in hand luggage unless medically necessary and duly declared.

“The passenger was informed of this regulation but reportedly declined to comply,” FAAN stated.

The situation reportedly escalated when the musician resisted further checks. FAAN said an airline security officer requested he step aside for additional screening, but he allegedly refused and spilled the contents of the flask—identified as alcohol—on the officer. The Flight Captain also intervened but was met with similar resistance.

Following the completion of boarding, the captain ordered the aircraft doors closed. However, the statement noted that the musician then moved to the front of the aircraft and refused to vacate the area despite multiple appeals from airline staff.

“He was eventually escorted away by AVSEC’s crime unit for further investigation and was later released,” the statement said.

FAAN condemned the disruption, reiterating its zero-tolerance policy for behavior that threatens airport operations or compromises safety.

“The Authority remains committed to the safety and security of all passengers, crew, and airport personnel. Any individual, regardless of status, found to have violated aviation regulations will be held accountable in accordance with the law,” FAAN said.

The investigation is ongoing, with the agency assuring the public that appropriate actions will be taken based on its findings.
