Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested two suspects in connection with the unlawful possession of three human skulls in the Ijebu area of the state.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Omolola Odutola, the arrest was made on Monday during a routine stop-and-search operation conducted by officers of the 71 Police Mobile Force, Awa Ijebu.

The operation, which took place along the Ijebu Ode–Ibadan Expressway near the Refugees Camp Junction in Oru Ijebu, led to the interception of a motorcycle rider identified as Kadir Owolabi. Upon inspection of his luggage, operatives discovered three human skulls concealed inside.

Preliminary investigations prompted further action, resulting in the arrest of a second suspect, 53-year-old Jamiu Yisa, at a location behind the Ijebu Ode Local Government Secretariat.

The statement added that the State Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to take over the case for a discreet and thorough investigation.

“We assure members of the public of trust, confidentiality, and protection of their identities,” Odutola said, while reiterating the command’s commitment to proactive policing measures such as stop-and-search operations in combating crime.

The suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.
