Borne out of his intention to promote recreation, social bonding and community spirit among young learners, Hon. Jenriyi Osinowo has announced plans to host a five-day Summer Camp for primary and secondary school students across Ijebu North Local Government Area.

The programme will feature an array of activities including fun games, exciting competitions where varieties of wonderful gift items would be won, all aimed at providing the children with a well-deserved break from the academic grind.

Hon. Osinowo said the initiative is rooted in the belief that children deserve dedicated time to play, bond, and explore beyond the classroom walls.

“Our children spend most of the year focused on schoolwork, often with little time for meaningful leisure. This summer camp is designed to help them reconnect with their peers, enjoy enriching activities, and return to school re-energised for the new session,” he stated.

He further noted that the camp will also serve as a platform to foster cultural connection, boost morale, and strengthen the sense of community among young people in the area.

While the initiative has already generated excitement among residents, Hon. Osinowo revealed that further details, including the camp’s venue, registration process, and official kick-off date, will be announced in the coming days.

The event is expected to attract participants from across Ijebu North and further affirms Hon. Osinowo’s commitment to nurturing the next generation through people-centred programmes that go beyond the classroom.

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
