President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated all winners of the by-elections held on Saturday, August 16, in 16 constituencies across 12 states of the federation.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting what he described as largely hitch-free polls, devoid of major incidents of violence.

According to the results declared by INEC, the All Progressives Congress (APC) secured victories in 12 constituencies, while the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) won in two. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) won one constituency each.

President Tinubu also congratulated the newly elected APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, describing the victories recorded by the party as a strong testament to his leadership capacity and the unity of purpose among party leaders.

“Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda has shown leadership capacity and demonstrated what is achievable when popular candidates are fielded and with unity of purpose among party leaders,” Tinubu remarked.

The President further commended APC governors, leaders, and members nationwide for the party’s success, assuring Nigerians that his administration remains committed to delivering on its “Renewed Hope” agenda.

“To all APC faithful and the electorate, thank you for the confidence reposed in our party. Be assured that our Renewed Hope slogan is not a mere slogan. Our destination is a better, more secure, and prosperous Nigeria. We shall take you there, by the Grace of God,” he said.

Tinubu also extended commendations to all political parties and candidates who took part in the exercise, urging them to continue to uphold the values of sportsmanship, fair contest and magnanimity, principles he described as essential to sustaining Nigeria’s democracy.
