The Ogun State Government has announced that the free entry initiative at the newly renovated Olumo Rock Tourist Complex will come to an end on Saturday, August 23, 2025.
In a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, the government expressed appreciation to residents, tourists, and visitors for the overwhelming response to the initiative, which was introduced by Governor Dapo Abiodun, CON, to allow the public rediscover the cultural and historical significance of Olumo Rock.
The government noted that the initiative had recorded an unprecedented turnout, attracting thousands of visitors since the reopening of the site, and reaffirmed its commitment to positioning Olumo Rock as a world-class tourist destination.
However, the surge in visitors has raised safety concerns. According to the statement, overcrowding at some points posed potential risks of a stampede, but timely interventions by security agencies and on-site personnel helped avert any incidents.
“While the initiative has achieved its objective, the safety of lives remains a top priority. His Excellency has therefore directed that the free entry window will close on Saturday, August 23, 2025, after which normal access procedures will resume,” the statement read.
The Ogun State Government assured the public of its continued commitment to providing a safe, enjoyable, and memorable experience for all visitors to Olumo Rock.
