Nollywood actress Opeyemi Aiyeola has clarified reports on the recent bereavement of fellow actor Ibrahim Chatta, stressing that the deceased was his godson and not his biological child.

Over the weekend, several blogs and news platforms reported that Chatta had lost his son, citing a post he shared on Instagram. In the post, the actor wrote: “Inna liLlahi wa inna ileyhi rajiun. Ya Allah, You are the Knower of all things. Rest on, Dear Son. Champ.”

The tribute quickly fuelled speculation that Chatta was mourning his own child.

But Aiyeola, in a statement on her verified Instagram page on Sunday, dispelled the reports. She explained that while the loss was deeply personal to Chatta, the deceased was a godson whom he loved like his own.

She wrote: “Ibrahim Chatta didn’t lose his biological son but a godson who is also like a son to him. May his pure soul continue to rest peacefully… It’s been an extremely emotional ride so far. God have mercy.”

The actress also prayed for strength and comfort for the bereaved family and urged the public to show empathy and restraint in spreading unverified reports during such a sensitive period.
