The Ogun State Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has held its third quarterly State Management Meeting, bringing together over 80 youth leaders and representatives across the state.
The meeting, which took place on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the Secretariat Hall of Yewa North Local Government, Ayetoro, reviewed progress made since the last session held in Odogbolu earlier this year.
In his opening address, the State Chairman of the Council, Olóyè Akolawole Shoremi, commended the resilience of Ogun youths in the face of prevailing challenges. He praised their commitment to community and state development, noting that the ongoing domestication of the National Youth Policy presents vast opportunities for empowerment.
“Let me thank you for your doggedness and proactivity in advancing youth development across our local governments and communities,” Shoremi said.
Delivering goodwill messages, Comrade Bolaji Sulaiman, National President of Youth Action Against Social Ills, and Elder Olaogun, a former Deputy State Chairman of the Youth Council, applauded the leadership for transforming youth administration in Ogun State. Olaogun particularly lauded the rotation of the quarterly meeting across local governments, describing Yewa North’s first-time hosting as historic.
The meeting featured the inauguration of newly appointed State Directorate members, who were presented with their Terms of Reference. It also deliberated on several strategic initiatives, including the Ogun Youth Health Insurance Scheme, the forthcoming local government elections, the 2025 National Youth Congress, the National Youth Day celebration, and the planned launch of the 2024 Compendium of Youth Activities.
Among dignitaries in attendance were former State Vice-Chairman (Ogun West), Comrade Olalekan Olusesan; former Youth Coordinator for Imeko-Afon LG, Comrade Adedeji Ajibade; former Youth Coordinator for Yewa North LG, Elder Samson Ajibade; and former Youth Coordinator for Yewa South LG, Comrade Adebayo Adeyinka, among others.
The Council reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening youth participation in governance, community development, and policy advocacy across Ogun State.
