The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has released a list of 203 tertiary institutions that failed to upload their students’ data required for the ongoing 2024/2025 student loan application exercise.

In a statement issued late Friday by the Fund’s Director of Strategic Communications, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, NELFUND announced that its Student Loan Application System (SLAS) portal would reopen for 48 hours — from 12:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 12, 2025, to 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 — to allow non-compliant institutions to complete the process.

Oluwatuyi explained that the extension was granted to ensure that all eligible students are properly captured and verified by their respective institutions as part of the ongoing loan application process.

“Institutions are strongly advised to make full use of this final opportunity,” the statement read. “Failure to complete the verification process within the stipulated period will result in forfeiture of participation in the current loan cycle, thereby disadvantaging their students, who are the ultimate beneficiaries of the scheme.”

NELFUND reminded all participating schools that uploading students’ data to the SLAS portal is a prerequisite for loan eligibility, as the information enables verification and access to the scheme designed to support Nigerian students in tertiary institutions.

The Guardian reports that the affected schools include federal and state universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and specialized institutions across the country.
