Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested over 100 suspects, including popular Lagos socialite and club owner, Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, popularly known as Pretty Mike, following a midnight raid on a drug party at Proxy Night Club in Victoria Island, Lagos.

The operation, carried out in the early hours of Sunday, followed credible intelligence about the planned drug party. NDLEA operatives, who had infiltrated the venue around 11 p.m. on Saturday, disrupted the gathering at about 3 a.m. in line with the agency’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

During the raid, cartons of illicit substances,  including Loud (a strong strain of cannabis) and laughing gas, were recovered from both the party venue and the club’s store. All suspects were taken into custody for screening and further investigation.

In a related operation, NDLEA officers at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, uncovered 70 parcels of cocaine factory-packed in the walls of cocoa butter body cream containers destined for London, United Kingdom. The 3.60kg of cocaine were intercepted on October 14, 2025, during the examination of cargo labelled as “personal effects” on an Air Peace flight.

A cargo agent, Lawal Olakunle, who presented the consignment for airfreight, was immediately arrested. Follow-up investigations led to the arrest of two other key suspects; Deborah Ogunmuyide, a female health worker, on October 18, and Mutiu Adebiyi, CEO of Mutiu Adebiyi & Co. Travels, at his Ikeja GRA office on October 20.

Similarly, NDLEA operatives at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport (AIIA), Enugu, intercepted a 35-year-old Lesotho national, Lemena Mark, attempting to export 103.59 grammes of methamphetamine concealed in a Diabeta herbal coffee pack to the Philippines via an Ethiopian Airlines flight on October 22.

Elsewhere, in Kwara State, a suspect, Umar Abubakar (40), was arrested on October 21 at Bode Saadu, Moro Local Government Area, while transporting 21,950 capsules of Tramadol 250mg concealed in a 100-litre water heater.

In Taraba State, operatives intercepted a truck loaded with building materials from Onitsha, Anambra State, and arrested Auwal Musa (26) and Salihu Bala (22) with 450,000 pills of Tramadol and Exol-5 at Dan-Anacha checkpoint on October 21.

NDLEA officers also recorded major seizures in other states:

In Kogi, 162.2kg of skunk (a potent strain of cannabis) was seized along the Okene–Lokoja highway on October 24.

In Nasarawa, 128kg of the same substance was recovered from Abubakar Muhammad (55) in Keffi on October 22.

In Lagos, a mother of two, Oyonumoh Glory Effiong, described as a major distributor of “Canadian” and “California Loud” in Lekki, Ajah, Ikoyi, and VGC, was arrested on October 17. About 500 grammes of the illicit strains were recovered from her home.

In Ikorodu, NDLEA operatives raided the residence of Ogunyabo Adenigbigbe at Solomade Estate and seized 275 litres of “skuchies” — a dangerous cocktail of blackcurrant drink, cannabis, and opioids.

At the Seme border, two suspects; Jacob Ojugbele and Amusa Oluwabukola, were arrested with 55kg of skunk and 121.3 litres of skuchies, respectively.

In Zamfara State, operatives on patrol along the Gummi–Anka road arrested Abubakar Ibrahim (30) with an AK-47 rifle and 1,746 rounds of assorted ammunition meant for AK-47 and GPMG rifles. The suspect and exhibits have since been handed over to the appropriate security agency for further investigation.

Meanwhile, NDLEA Commands nationwide continued their War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitisation activities across schools, workplaces, worship centres, and communities.

Commending the various Commands for their efforts, NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd), urged officers to sustain the momentum and maintain the agency’s balanced approach to drug control, combining law enforcement with robust public education.
