The Public Education Officer of the Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Chief Route Commander Florence Okpe, has passed away.
Her death was confirmed on Tuesday by the Ogun Sector Commander, Akinwunmi Fasakin, in Abeokuta.
According to Fasakin, the late Okpe had been battling an undisclosed illness for some time before her death in her hometown in Cross River State.
He said, “We lost Okpe this morning, Tuesday; her family has confirmed the sad news. She had been sick for a while and had been receiving medical care here in Ogun State before she was granted medical leave. She later travelled to her hometown in Cross River State, where she eventually passed away.”
Describing her as a dedicated and exceptional officer, Fasakin paid glowing tributes to the deceased, saying her demise was a great loss to the command and the Corps at large.
“Okpe was an enigma, a very sound, resourceful and professional officer with unparalleled dedication to duty. I have sincerely lost a very dutiful officer. She was very dear to me, and it’s been a sad day since we received the news of her death,” he said.
Fasakin added that the command deeply mourns her passing and extends its condolences to her family, friends, and colleagues, praying that God grants them the fortitude to bear the loss.
