The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has directed the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) to immediately resolve the technical glitches affecting the ongoing recruitment exercise for the nation’s paramilitary agencies.
The directive follows widespread complaints from applicants who have been unable to access or track their recruitment status weeks after completing various stages of the process.
In a statement posted on his official Facebook page on Friday, Tunji-Ojo acknowledged the technical issues, attributing them to the ongoing upload of applicant data.
He said: “Following recent complaints from applicants into the paramilitary agencies who are still unable to determine their fate due to the ongoing upload of information, I have directed the Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board to ensure that all uploads are completed immediately.”
The CDCFIB had earlier announced that applicants could begin checking their recruitment status from Friday. However, many reported persistent glitches on the portal, including login errors, mismatched job categories, and missing records.
One X (formerly Twitter) user, #msg_snr, shared a screenshot showing a mismatch between his application and the displayed job category, asking: “Who else is seeing this? The applicant applied for NIS, yet the guarantor’s form is showing Fire Service. Is this a glitch or a typo?”
Another user, #Prince3255, posted an error message from the portal, alleging that “many of the top officials and politicians have already shared the slots among themselves.”
Despite the frustrations, the ministry has assured applicants that the portal will be fully functional once the data upload is completed.
Reports indicate that about 1.9 million applicants are competing for roughly 30,000 vacancies across the four paramilitary services.
