Craneburg Construction Limited, contractor for the reconstruction of the Lagos–Abeokuta Expressway, has assured that the project will be completed within record time.

The company’s Project Manager, Mr. Pierre Andary, gave the assurance during an inspection tour of ongoing road projects in Itori, Ewekoro Local Government Area, led by the Ogun State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya.

Andary said asphalt laying had begun on several sections of the expressway, with overall completion now exceeding 50 percent. He added that despite weather challenges, work had continued steadily to ensure timely delivery.

Speaking during the visit, Akinsanya said the Prince Dapo Abiodun administration had transformed several previously impassable roads across the state since 2019.

He urged motorists and residents to remain patient, stressing that road construction requires time and precision to guarantee durability.

“Before this administration came on board, the road was totally impassable. The Sango-Ota area was like a swimming pool. We made tremendous efforts to fix that, but road reconstruction is not a one-day operation,” the commissioner said.

Akinsanya explained that the concrete pavement method adopted along the Ewekoro axis would strengthen the road and reduce long-term maintenance costs, especially given the area’s high water level.

He also dismissed a viral video showing poor road conditions along the corridor, saying it did not reflect the current state of work. According to him, the government had addressed major traffic concerns in the area.

“Work is ongoing and will continue until completion,” he said, appealing to motorists to drive carefully, especially during the rainy season.

Other projects inspected included the 8.17km Magboro–Makogi Road, Akute–Alagbole Road, 9.2km Oke-Aro–Agbado Road, and Papalanto Road, spanning Abeokuta North, Ado-Odo/Ota, Ifo, and Ewekoro Local Government Areas.

The Project Manager of CCECC Nigeria Limited, Mr. Jason Zhang, whose firm is handling the Magboro–Makogi Road, confirmed steady progress and commended both motorists and the state government for their cooperation.

Residents, including Mr. Uche Okoro and Alhaji Wasiu Sanusi, praised the government’s efforts, saying the road projects would ease movement and boost economic activities in the region.
