Amid the barrage of sponsored criticisms by disgruntled individuals in the state, a prominent Egba statesman and the Osi of Egbaland, High Chief Bode Mustapha, has commended the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, for his impressive performance in road construction and rehabilitation projects across Ogun Central Senatorial District.

High Chief Mustapha, who scored the governor high, made the commendation while featuring on a popular Yoruba radio programme, ‘OJU ABE’ on Splash FM 106.7.

Responding to a question on the governor’s performance in road development within Ogun Central, Chief Mustapha revealed that shortly after assuming office, Governor Abiodun demonstrated a pragmatic and inclusive approach to governance by setting up a Committee, chaired by the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, with himself serving as the secretary.

According to him, the committee was mandated to compile and prioritize roads needing urgent attention across the senatorial district. He noted that though the governor could not execute all the identified projects at once, not less than 80 percent of the listed roads had since been attended to, which affirms his commitment to infrastructural development and responsive governance.

He said, “Prince Dapo Abiodun has tried his best, though we are still wanting more. For instance, when he came into office, he set up a committee of which I was the secretary while the Alake was the chairman and we compiled roads that needed attention in Ogun Central. His Excellency may not have done all but he attended to not less than 80 percent of the list. We request that he sets up such a committee again.”

His remarks, analysts say, further affirm Governor Abiodun’s reputation as a listening leader and a promise keeper, who has remained focused on bridging the infrastructural deficit he inherited upon assuming office six years ago.

Chief Mustapha’s commendation, coming from one of the most respected voices in Egbaland, reinforces the general perception that Governor Abiodun’s “Building Our Future Together” agenda is not just a slogan but a visible and measurable reality across Ogun State.
