President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s determination to defeat terrorism and deepen Nigeria’s diplomatic engagement with the international community.

Speaking shortly before the Federal Executive Council (FEC) went into a closed-door session at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday, Tinubu said his government remains steadfast in pursuing the Renewed Hope Agenda with “clarity of purpose and unity of direction.”

“We are engaging the world diplomatically, and we assure all of you that we will defeat terrorism. The task ahead is to move forward with clarity of purpose, guided by the Renewed Hope Agenda to build a prosperous Nigeria,” the President said.

Thursday’s FEC meeting marked the council’s first since July.

Tinubu’s remarks come days after U.S. President Donald Trump designated Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern,” a move the Federal Government has dismissed as a misrepresentation of the nation’s security realities.

In his first public reaction to the designation, Tinubu said Nigeria remains in active dialogue with its global partners to promote peace, stability, and economic growth.

“Despite political headwinds and fears, we will continue to engage with our partners,” he said. “The success of the $2.3 billion Eurobond, which was oversubscribed, is a sign of growing confidence in our economy. The task ahead is immense, but we are resolved to move forward with unity and purpose.”

The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to national unity, peace, and prosperity, while commending members of his cabinet for their continued dedication to the Renewed Hope Agenda.
