Ogun State Governor and Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has congratulated the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, on his re-election.
Soludo, candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), was declared winner of the Anambra State governorship election held on Saturday after securing victory across all 21 local government areas.
According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Soludo polled 422,664 votes out of the 584,054 valid votes cast, defeating his closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who garnered 99,445 votes. The candidates of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) followed with 8,208 and 1,401 votes respectively.
In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Hon. Kayode Akinmade, Governor Abiodun described the outcome of the election as a clear expression of the people’s confidence in Soludo’s leadership.
“The results of Saturday’s election show, in unmistakable terms, that the people of Anambra State believe in the leadership and vision of His Excellency, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo,” Abiodun said.
“I heartily congratulate my brother and Vice Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum, Prof. Soludo, and urge him to continue to inspire the people of Anambra State with impactful policies and projects. By uniting various political interests, he can further consolidate the gains of democracy and accelerate development in the state.”
Governor Abiodun also commended Soludo for his continued cooperation with the President Bola Tinubu-led federal administration and urged him to sustain his commitment to democracy and good governance.
