Moroccan football star Achraf Hakimi has been named the 2025 CAF Men’s Player of the Year, securing the continent’s most prestigious individual football honour after an outstanding season for both club and country.
The Paris Saint-Germain right-back claimed the award for the first time, emerging top in the votes cast by a panel of experts, national team coaches, and leading African football journalists.
Hakimi entered the ceremony as the clear favourite, following a remarkable campaign in which he played a pivotal role in PSG’s quadruple-winning season, lifting the Ligue 1 title, UEFA Champions League, Coupe de France, and the Trophée des Champions. His stellar form also earned him a sixth-place finish in the 2025 Ballon d’Or rankings.
Across all competitions, the 27-year-old featured for more than 3,400 minutes, contributing 6 goals and 4 assists in Ligue 1, as well as 5 goals and 4 assists in the Champions League. His defensive solidity helped PSG register 10 clean sheets in the Champions League run.
Hakimi’s brilliance saw him named in the UEFA Champions League Team of the Season, Ligue 1 Team of the Season, and the CAF Team of the Year.
He beat fellow finalists, Egypt’s Mohamed Salah and Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen, to clinch the coveted award, reaffirming his status as one of Africa’s finest footballers.
