The National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, has called on Nigerians to rally behind the party, declaring that an ADC-led government will put an end to banditry and other forms of violent crime in the country.

Aregbesola made the call in Ilesa, Osun State, on Wednesday, shortly after revalidating his membership of the party.

His remarks were contained in a statement signed by the Chairman, ADC Directorate of Media and Publicity in Osun State, Oluwaseun Abosede, and made available to journalists in Osogbo.

Speaking during the exercise held at his Ward 8, Ifofin, in Ilesa East Local Government Area, Aregbesola said he chose the ADC because of its discipline, integrity, and commitment to progressive values.

According to the statement, “Ogbeni appreciated the work done by the committee and urged every Nigerian to come on board so we can enthrone a government capable of ending banditry, insecurity, and tragic incidents like the attack in Kwara, where unknown gunmen invaded a church, killed worshippers, and kidnapped others.

“He told the people that ADC did not fall from heaven, but he decided to join a party that upholds character, courage, competence, discipline and integrity as the foundation of its political engagement and institutional conduct. This is the party that will lead Nigeria out of its current quagmire.”

Earlier, the ADC Membership Registration and Revalidation Committee, led by its Secretary, Senator Sodiq Yaradua, launched the nationwide membership registration and revalidation exercise. Yaradua explained that the new ADC membership card contains 12 advanced security features to prevent duplication and safeguard the integrity of the party’s records.

He noted that Aregbesola was the first person to be revalidated under the new system, and urged members across the country to complete their registration at the ward level. He added that an online portal for registration would soon be unveiled to expand access for prospective members.

“Hon. Kamil Akinlade Mudashir, Chairman of the Osun State ADC Membership Mobilisation, Revalidation and Registration Committee, thereafter revalidated Ogbeni as a member of the ADC,” the statement added.

Aregbesola has recently been vocal about the ADC’s plans should it have the opportunity to form government. On September 13, 2025, it was reported that the former minister said the party was determined to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections, unveiling a grassroots mobilisation strategy aimed at winning both the presidency and Lagos State.

He made the remark in Lagos during a gathering where Moshood Salvador, leader of the Labour Party’s Conscience Forum, formally defected to the ADC along with his members. The event drew party leaders from across Lagos’ 20 local governments and 37 LCDAs.

Addressing the new entrants, Aregbesola praised the Conscience Forum leadership and urged them to fully commit to the ADC’s mission of capturing power at both the federal and state levels in 2027.

He predicted that the ADC would not only produce Nigeria’s next president but also take control of Alausa, emphasizing a mobilisation strategy in which each member is required to recruit ten new members, who must, in turn, recruit ten more. He said that once adopted nationwide, the model would guarantee the party overwhelming dominance in the 2027 elections.
