Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party, blaming persistent national leadership crises for his decision.

Adeleke announced his exit in a statement posted on his Instagram page late Monday, confirming that he had submitted his resignation letter to party officials in Sagba Abogunde, Ward 2, Ede North Local Government, on November 4, 2025.

“Due to the ongoing crisis within the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (#OfficialPDPNig) at the national level, I officially conveyed my resignation letter as a member to the party leadership in Sagba Abogunde, Ward 2, Ede North Local Government, on November 4, 2025,” he wrote.

He expressed appreciation to the party and its supporters “for the opportunities they have provided me, first as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and now as Governor of Osun State.”

Adeleke’s departure comes amid growing speculation about his political future. Earlier statements from the PDP in Osun suggested that the governor might not seek the party’s ticket for the 2026 governorship election unless its internal disputes were resolved.

The party leadership had expressed optimism that a resolution, validated by the Independent National Electoral Commission, could prompt Adeleke to reconsider.

Recall Instant News had previously reported concerns within the party that the unresolved crises could jeopardize Adeleke’s participation in the next governorship race. However, party officials maintained that his position might change if the disputes are settled within INEC’s stipulated timetable for the 2026 Osun governorship poll.
