President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has submitted a fresh list of non-career ambassadorial nominees to the Senate for confirmation.

The nominees include the immediate past Sole Administrator of Rivers State and former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (retd.); former presidential aide, Senator Ita Enang; former Imo State First Lady, Chioma Ohakim; and former Minister of Interior and ex-Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (retd.).

The announcement was made on Thursday during plenary after Senate President Godswill Akpabio read the president’s letter addressed to the upper chamber.

In the letter, President Tinubu requested expedited consideration of the nominees to enable the government strengthen its diplomatic representation across key foreign missions.

Akpabio subsequently referred the list to the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, mandating the panel to screen the nominees and submit its report within one week.
